Happy World Earth Day!

This year it is 52nd anniversary of celebrating Earth Day all around the world.

Every year there is a theme that people focus on for that year.

This years theme is investing in our planet.

Invest in our planet

As many are aware protecting the world and stopping climate change is all over the news and internet. We have gotten to the stage where the climate is in trouble and it is time to take action. The theme of investing in our planet is to try and encourage us to contribute to correcting these issues rather than making them worse.

Now some of the changes you could make may cost. Some will save you more money than they cost and others will just be a life style change.

Here are 6 ideas of what you could do to help the planet:

1. Change your lights to LED or more efficient lighting – It could not only save the planet but cut your energy bills massively.
2. Recycle unwanted computer equipment and old internet connected devices – Learn more about WEEEE recycling (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment recycling) here.
3. Travel with an e-ticket – why print tickets and vouchers you don’t need to!
4. Recycle or sell your old mobile phones – modern mobile phones contain many rare earth minerals (even gold!) and finding enough is causing huge mining operations around the world.
5. Use your own coffee cup – It’s an oldie but a goodie cut down on that unnecessary waste
6. Push for your company to go green – Whether it’s asking for a cycle scheme or making sure your computer equipment runs on recycled energy, every little helps.

Anything you can do whether is a small change like turning the water off when brushing your teeth or a huge change like changing all your lights to LEDs makes a huge difference.
