The theme for World Environment Day 2022 is ‘Only One Earth’!
Here are some top tips to help protect the earth this World Environment Day:

Turn the light off when leaving a room
Now this may sound simple, but we can all admit to being guilty of sometimes forgetting. It can make a huge difference by ensuring that all the light that are not needed on are off. By doing so you should see an improvement in your electricity bills. We all know how important that is now that the prices have skyrocketed.

Turn the tap off
This could be in-between brushes while you’re brushing your teeth, or when you are washing up, or even when you’re running the water to make it hot or cold. All these things can waste a lot of unneeded water. You don’t need to tap on while you’re brushing your teeth. Once you have enough water to wash up turn it off. Finally, I know it is annoying having to wait for the water to get to your preferred temperature. However rather than running it on full just reduce it to a dripple it will still heat or cool at the same time just will have had less water wasted.

Re-use materials
There are many examples of when you could reuse your materials. If you have an envelope, you don’t need turn it into scrap paper for when you need to write stuff down. This will stop you for using a perfect sheet of paper to just be thrown away or ripped. You can also reuse any water bottles. Rather than buying lots of plastic bottle just buy one and then re fill it and use it again. There are so many different materials around your house, cereal boxes, egg containers, milk bottles and so many more. All these things can be reused. If they can’t then make sure you recycle them so they can be reused by someone else.

Avoid single use products
I am aware how easy and convenient it is to buy a bottle of water out or go and get a takeaway coffee. However, there are so many coffee shops that will refill your reusable cup if you bring one. There are also places that will refill your water bottle. This means you can save the environment and save money just by paying a little bit extra that one time to get yourself a reusable water bottle or cup/flask.

Don’t leave devices plugged in
I don’t know about you, but I tend to plug my phone in and then walk away and forget about it. While this can be handy because when you find it again its charged, it does mean you waste a lot of unneeded energy. Even if your device is fully charged energy will still be getting pumped into it and not only is it costly and unneeded it can ruin your phone. Therefore, I would suggest getting a timer, so you know to go back in x amount of time that way you don’t forget and don’t waste electricity.
