What is Facebook?

Facebook is a social media site that allows people to create a free profile online. This site will enable people to post videos, talk to friends, share pictures, share music, share articles and share thoughts and opinions of their own to different people around the world. There is an option on the site for people to have a private account. They can use the account to keep in contact with their friends close to home and worldwide without anyone they don’t know seeing your post. On the other hand, accounts can be made public, meaning that anyone can see and engage with your posts no matter who they are.
Facebook is a great site not just for personal use but also for businesses. Businesses use this site to share awareness of their business and encourage customers to have more personal engagements with the company. Facebook is a great app to keep people updated on what is going on in your life and any random thought you may have.
Why was Facebook Created?

Initially, Facebook was meant to be an internal app for those who attended Harvard school. It was a way for students to communicate with each other in a safe, monitored way. This idea was incredibly popular; in as little as 24 hours, roughly 1,200 students had joined the site. Due to the high demand at Harvard, they decided to expand. Facebook slowly developed a way to connect different colleges. This was so students could connect with the other neighbouring colleges. It started as a platform for US colleges; however, its popularity spread and even those colleges in the UK joined the site.
Who were the first people to have a Facebook account?

When Facebook began, it gave each profile an id number. The first three are thought to of been used as test profiles while the site was being created. Id 4 was Mark Zucker’s profile, and Id 5 was Chris Huges, who were the creators of Facebook. After them, the following accounts were made by the other boys at Harvard who were friends with Mark and Chris.
